SailCo 38e, a simple and robust electric cruising catamaran

This was when Roger first fell in love with boats and sailing and has continued to this day.

Fast forward to the late 1970’s and I was working with my 3rd. Cousins Jock and Max Muir at the famous Muir’s Boat Yard Dynasty in Battery Point, Tasmania where I formalised my Boat Building Qualifications.

In 2021 I developed the SAILCO 38e, a Fully Electric, Solar Powered, Blue Water Sailing Catamaran

The SAILCO 38e is of a solid, monolithic epoxy fiberglass composite construction with a Hull thickness of 10mm and 8mm above the Waterline and Decks / Cabins etc.

The Decks and Cabins are 6 mm with accommodation for 8 Crew

The Bridge Deck, is open but covered by a Bimini carrying 8 kWh of photovoltaic panels and houses an exterior saloon and Helm position.

The boat is equipped with two 10 kWh 48 V electric motors and a 22 kWh kWh battery pack for propulsion.

Also in 2021 and with the help of the Internet, I formed the First Virtual Yacht Club in the world – Yacht Club International.

The boat is delivered finished with a white gelcoat inside. On the equipment side, we find all the equipment usually present on the cruising ships, cold, pressurized water, hot water, cooking (electric for these two last elements), instruments, pilot.
