Yacht Club International

an exceptionally unique experience Virtual Yacht Club to you

Hello, my name is Roger Croome. I am an Australian-born boat builder and sailor, deeply rooted in a rich maritime heritage. Hailing from a distinguished nautical family of sailors and boat builders, my journey in the world of yachting began at an early age.

My mother’s lineage, the MUIR family, is renowned for their groundbreaking contributions to boat design and construction. The MUIRs of Battery Point, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, have left an indelible mark on the yachting world with their innovative designs and craftsmanship, producing some of Australia’s most celebrated racing and cruising yachts.

I was incredibly fortunate to undertake my boat building apprenticeship under the meticulous guidance of designer Jock Muir and his brother Max Muir in the late 1970s. This invaluable experience provided me with a profound understanding of boat design and construction, laying a solid foundation for my future endeavors.

Jock’s son, John Muir, continued the family’s legacy, achieving worldwide success with the MUIR WINDLASS.

Following my time with the MUIRs in Tasmania, I joined the Swarbrick Brothers in Western Australia, where I was involved in building the Space Sailer range of fiberglass yachts and the S&S36, a yacht famed for its numerous circumnavigations.

In my own career, I have designed the SAILCO38, a fully electric sailing catamaran, which embodies the future of sustainable sailing. I am also working on new designs that will soon be featured on the Yacht Club International website.

The creation of the Yacht Club International website stems from my passion to open the world of yachting, sailing, and boating to people from all walks of life and corners of the globe. This platform aims to provide an inclusive space where enthusiasts can connect, share, and immerse themselves in all aspects of nautical life.

Join us and become part of this incredible journey, exploring the limitless possibilities of the yachting world with Yacht Club International.
